Flexibility on Track – A Significant Increase in Productivity
Gressel is launching a modular clamping system that allows workpieces of very different shapes and sizes to be clamped flexibly and with exceptionally short setup times: the “XL Construction Kit.” The system consists of standardized components: the base body, the base module, and the clamping elements. The base bodies are designed as guide rails that are mounted directly on machine tables or on existing zero-point clamping systems. By arranging multiple base bodies—each 45 mm high, 125 mm wide, and available in five different lengths — in any desired configuration, a precise guide is created that enables flexible axial movement of the basic modules — the second component of the modular system.
The modules can be positioned continuously along the base frames to secure components of various sizes and shapes using the clamping vises mounted on them. The basic modules are clamped on the operator side with a screw, and a numbering grid simplifies positioning. Smooth surfaces and a closed, compact design ensure easy cleaning, just as with the base bodies. The base modules are designed to accommodate all standard workpiece clamping systems from Gressel. These include “MC” monoblock vises, “SC2.0” single vises, “D2” double vises, “M1” multi-clamps, floating clamps, “C2.0” centric vises, “C5X” 5-axis centric clamping vises, and magnetic modules.
Wide range of sizes and shapes covered
The flexibility in workpiece shape and size that the user achieves is further enhanced in terms of component geometry and material, as reversible “grip” jaws, as well as adapter and swivel plates or large reversible prism jaws (now also available with swivel jaws), can be used.
The jaws are changed using two screws. Workpieces can also be freely positioned and clamped in the machine using the gredoc (mechanical) and VERO-S Schunk (pneumatic) zero-point clamping system base modules. The XL Construction Kit has an extremely wide range of applications. It can be used for ring clamping or various profiles, as well as for securing welded structures or flame-cut plates. On 5-axis machines, for example, the Construction Kit can be quickly converted from long-bed to 5-axis machining. The XL Construction Kit offers excellent accessibility, is very user-friendly, and can be easily cleaned after machining. Last but not least, users who already work with GRESSEL clamping systems can use them with the Construction Kit and apply their existing know-how to handling it exactly as before.
