From small to large, from short to long, from narrow to wide, from thin to thick – the new M1 multiple clamping system from Gressel provides users with a cost-saving all-round workpiece clamping system for piece count-flexible variant production.
At the AMB in Stuttgart, Gressel AG, the Swiss specialist for workpiece clamping technology and automation of machining production, is presenting the new M1 multiple clamping system. The successor to the Multigrip clamping system already established on the market features an optimized basic design and slimmer clamping jaws. Compared to multigrip, this allows the density of parts to be increased once again. More workpieces clamped on 3-, 4- or 5-axis machines in turn represent longer machine running times and, depending on the machining intensity of the workpiece, ensure shorter throughput times per part.

Consisting of the M1 basic elements – fixed jaws, clamping rails and adjustable jaws – individually adapted workpiece clamping systems can be created for the repeat-precise holding of single or multiple workpieces of one size or different dimensions. In addition, fasteners offer the possibility of joining two or more tensioning rails into one system. This allows even more or very long workpieces to be fixed with high precision and process reliability. The multiple clamping vise M1 can be clamped either directly on the machine table with an alignment set for T-slot tables, on grid plates with fitting holes, on zero point clamping systems by means of locating holes for locating pins from SCHUNK VERO-S and GRESSEL gredoc as well as on consoles, clamping columns for dividing heads and clamping towers.

For maximum flexibility in set-up and use, the fixed jaws can be turned 180 degrees, have a grip step on both sides, and are easily relocated by means of index teeth. The adjustment jaws are very easy to position on the extremely rigid rails, which are 90 millimeters wide, available in lengths from 260 to 650 millimeters, and equipped with hardened and ground toothing. This is done from above and is supported by a lasered scale. There is also only one screw size on the entire system, reducing tool handling to one tool. The quick change of the clamping jaws on the fixed and adjustable jaws (pull-down jaw 40 millimeters, parallel clamping jaws with 40, 65, 90 millimeters, pendulum jaw handle 90 millimeters) only requires unscrewing, removing, putting on, screwing in – done!

By means of KSE wedge clamping elements, process-reliable multiple clamping is possible even with difficult workpiece contours or with flat parts. The fixed and adjustable jaws of the M1 are available in three sizes: M1 40, M1 65 and M1 90, which offer individually adjustable clamping forces of up to 30 kilonewtons with a tightening torque of 50 newton meters for practical and appropriate workpiece clamping. The extensive modular system and the standard range of clamping jaws and accessories ensure simple and fast configuration of multiple workpiece clamping systems for all types of milling machines and machining centers.
